PROCESS OF MAKING

01 / INTRODUCTORY MEETING

A complementary, non-obligatory introductory meeting is scheduled to observe the project site, to discuss the basic scope of the project and to gain a better understanding of the needs and desires for the site and its users.

A quotation package - containing the project brief, available start date and the fee proposal - is subsequently sent through to the client.

02 / SITE AND CLIENT ANALYSIS

All relevant information pertaining to the site and its broader context is analysed, including location, microclimate, dimensions, topography, soils and vegetation.

A questionnaire is sent through to clients, in order to gain a better idea of the needs and desires for the space.

03 / CONCEPT PROPOSAL

Scaled conceptual design proposals are developed, based on the site analysis and client brief. These conceptual proposals include a 2D garden plan and 3D images that assists in conveying the proposed structure and atmosphere of the design.

04 / DETAILED DESIGN

Once the concept design has been refined and agreed upon, we begin work on the detailed design. Details such as materiality, hard landscaping and planting plans are resolved. A final landscape design package is sent to the client - which includes all relevant plans, planting schedules and plant descriptions.

05 / QUOTATION

A bill of quantities is developed for the finalised garden plan. This, along with any necessary construction details, is sent to contractors to quote. We work with trusted and highly skilled landscape installers and artisans to implement the design.

06 / CONSTRUCTION OVERSIGHT

Oversight is provided during the construction phase of the project, to ensure that the landscape is installed according to the agreed plans and details. We personally lay out all plants and trees according to the finalised planting plan.

07 / HANDOVER AND AFTERCARE

The completed landscape is reviewed with the client. Complimentary follow-up site visits are offered at 1, 3, 6 and 12-month intervals - within the boundaries of the City of Cape Town - in order to ensure that the new landscape is flourishing throughout all seasons.

A maintenance plan is included as part of the final deliverables, and after-care advice is available for an agreed period of time.
